This day was conceived by the Consortium of the same name. It is entirely devoted to celebrating the charm and modern vitality of this extraordinary product. It proudly bears the European quality label IGP.

The official inauguration of the tasting stations will take place in the Barolo Room starting at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, the event will continue until 8:00 p.m. During the day, visitors will have the opportunity to sample an extraordinary selection of Vermouth from Turin. The conference will conclude with a brief seminar and guided tasting session, where participants can delve into the types and history of Vermouth from Turin.

Event program: afternoon activities

In the afternoon, at 2 pm, a round table on Vermouth tourism will commence, an increasingly captivating topic offering new opportunities for the region.

Experts will discuss various topics related to wine tourism in Europe. Among them are:

  • Emanuela Panke, President of the European Federation Iter Vitis (Cultural Route of the Council of Europe)
  • Marcella Gaspardone, Director of Tourism Turin
  • Mariangela Chiapperini from Turismo Torino

The discussion will cover European wine route experiences. It will also focus on the project for a Vermouth Route in Piedmont. Additionally, it will explore the tourist impact of Vermouth in Turin.

At 4 pm, the “Words of Vermouth” area will provide an intimate atmosphere to delve into Vermouth’s history and visual culture. Giusi Mainardi will lead a journey from eighteenth-century liquorists to modern Vermouth, while Valerio Bigano will explore graphic evolution from the past to the new millennium.

The day will continue at 5 pm with another round table highlighting Piedmontese botanicals, their role in tradition, and prospects for the future. Historic producers and new entities will discuss how to enhance this distinctive element.

Finally, at 6 pm, alternative pairings for Vermouth will be discussed. Sommeliers, chefs, and bartenders will contribute, showcasing how this product goes beyond cocktails. They will also explore new gastronomic interactions.

Vermouth di Torino: Tradition meets innovation

The Vermouth di Torino Consortium – says President Roberto Bava – safeguards and promotes the only IGP that carries the city’s name worldwide.

On January 24th, it will begin its activities in Turin again, with the many projects that make up its national and international promotional efforts for the new season. Just a few years after the Consortium’s creation and the rebirth of the denomination through the awarding of the IGP, our Vermouth di Torino has contributed to the spread of a new “vermouth tourism,” starting from historic venues and inevitably making its way to cellars and throughout the region.

New productions have doubled the traditional labels already available, offering a much richer range today; even in agriculture, there is excitement around new botanical crops for the recipes. Those attending our Turin event will have the chance to experience this firsthand, and we hope they will become passionate connoisseurs and ambassadors.

“It’s always the right time for Vermouth di Torino!”
