Merano, the European capital of food and wine, hosted the 5-day Merano Wine Festival, the most glamorous event in the food and wine sector, which from November 8 to 12 celebrated national and international excellence.
It has been a wonderful edition, and we are very satisfied with how it went, we reached 7,000 attendees, a figure in line with previous years, marking the consolidation of our success with a high-quality audience of buyers, industry professionals, journalists, and wine enthusiasts. With visitors, producers, partners, journalists, and collaborators, the total number reached 10,000 people, generating an economic impact of over 6 million euros for the Merano area – says Helmuth Köcher, the event’s founder.
Summit Quo vadis?
The question “Quo Vadis?”, the theme of this year’s Merano WineFestival, was the focus of the Summit “Breath and Cry of the Earth.”
On Friday, November 8, and Saturday, November 9, the Ariston Cinema in Merano hosted six scientific talks curated by the International Viticulture and Enology Society, as well as the roundtable discussion “Sustainable Abruzzo, Green Molise.”
These events provided opportunities for in-depth exploration of environmental sustainability in the wine sector and, more broadly, agriculture, grappling with the challenge of climate change.
Highlights of the event
Among the many highlights that characterized the 33rd Merano Wine Festival, the opening with the “Bio&Dynamica & More” exhibition. It stood out, offering a platform for the world of organic, biodynamic, natural, orange, PIWI wines, as well as those from integrated agriculture and wines aged in amphorae and underwater. This important space within the festival was dedicated to 160 Italian producers whose work and products authentically represent their territories.
On the first day, November 8, there were many important events:
- the Mercato della Terra curated by Slow Food Alto Adige in Piazza della Rena
- the presentation of the Vinibuoni d’Italia 2025 guide at the Kimm in Merano

- the showcooking sessions in the Abruzzo, Calabria, and Campania Felix areas (the latter curated by MisteryApple) showcased the best gastronomic expressions of these regions, with numerous guests including Gino Sorbillo, Antonio Tubelli, Carlo Auriti, and Stefano Ferrauti.
